Goodbye London-Gatwick, and Hello London-Heathrow!

PK-GIA, Garuda Indonesia’s Boeing 777-300ER on its inaugural flight to London Gatwick International Airport

Garuda Indonesia operates two destinations to Europe. Amsterdam and London-Gatwick.  The route is operated by Boeing 777-300ER, the flagship aircraft of Garuda Indonesia five times in a week. The Jakarta-Amsterdam-London Gatwick sector is operated by flight GA88 while the London Gatwick-Amsterdam-Jakarta sector is operated by flight GA89. This flagship route was launched by Garuda Indonesia after the European Union allowed Garuda Indonesia to fly to Europe.

But now, Garuda Indonesia will no longer to fly to London-Gatwick International Airport. But Garuda Indonesia will move to the major airport of United Kingdom, the London-Heathrow International Airport. The airline will start to fly to London-Heathrow on 31 March 2016. The flight will be operated by Boeing 777-300ER with a stop in Singapore five times in a week. The Jakarta-Singapore-London Heathrow sector will be operated as flight GA86 and the London Heathrow-Singapore-Jakarta sector will be operated as flight GA87. But Garuda Indonesia will keep the Amsterdam route and will keep flying to Amsterdam directly five times in a week.

This new route is also the part of Garuda Indonesia's aggressive expansion after its difficult times in the 2000s. Congratulations, Garuda Indonesia!
