ZK-OKP, an Air New Zealand Boeing 777-300ER with "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"


Air New Zealand, the flag carrier airline of New Zealand operates the Boeing 777-300ER since 2011. Now, Air New Zealand has seven Boeing 777-300ER in its fleet. The Boeing 777-300ER is serving long-haul routes such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, London, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires, and also some Australian and Pacific Island destinations.

The fourth Boeing 777-300ER of Air New Zealand was delivered on November 9, 2011. It registered as ZK-OKP. On November 24, 2012, Air New Zealand unveiled "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" livery on its fourth Boeing 777-300ER, ZK-OKP. Air New Zealand introduced "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" special livery just four days before The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released in Wellington, New Zealand on November 28, 2012. 
 
Until now, "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" livery on ZK-OKP is the largest graphic ever to be applied on an airplane. To paint ZK-OKP with "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" livery, Air New Zealand took six days and deployed 400 men to paint this aircraft. This livery is used by Air New Zealand to promote The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, a high fantasy movie in New Zealand. Until now, ZK-OKP still wears "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" livery.
